The Orange – coming off a trip to the NCAA Final Four where they were defeated 61-56 in the semifinal by the Michigan Wolverines – have established a strong basketball reputation, holding the fifth best all-time record for wins (1,874 victories over 112 seasons) in Division I basketball. Syracuse currently holds an active NCAA-record with 42 consecutive winning seasons. Point guard Tyler Ennis, a five-star recruit from Brampton, Ont., is expected to make his Orange debut on Aug. 23 at Canadian Tire Centre after a successful high school career at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, N.J.

The Carleton University men’s basketball team captured their third CIS title in as many years to become the first program in history to claim a ninth W.P. McGee Trophy in 2013. This past season, the Ravens finished atop the OUA East standings with a 19-1 record, added three playoff wins en route to the Wilson Cup title, and compiled an overall mark of 25-1 against CIS schools prior to the Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship.

Canadian Tire Centre will once again host Capital Hoops Classic, an annual basketball event that features the Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees men’s and women’s basketball teams, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014. The rivalry game will set the stage for the CIS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship, which will be held at Canadian Tire Centre from March 7-9.
